Celebrating 5 years
Letter from our founder:
As we celebrate the five-year anniversary of Stillwater Capital Management, I find myself reflecting less on growth and more on gratitude.
We would not be here without the trust of our clients, the support of our families, and the relationships we have built throughout our community. For that, I am deeply thankful.
When I founded the firm in 2021, the vision was straightforward: to create a wealth management firm centered around genuine relationships, thoughtful advice, and long-term stewardship. I believed there were individuals and families looking for something more personal; a trusted advisor who would not only understand their financial goals, but also the responsibilities, concerns, and aspirations that come with building meaningful wealth.
Like many businesses, Stillwater began modestly, formed out of my garage with equal parts conviction and uncertainty. During that time, my six-year-old son made me a handmade sign that still hangs in my garage today. It reads, “Stealwater Captial Managent.” The spelling may not have been perfect, but the meaning was. To see him take pride in what I was building meant more to me than I can properly express. Today, at eleven years old, he laughs when he sees it on the wall, but I keep it there as a reminder of where we started and why we do this work.
Growing up playing soccer, I was rarely the goal scorer. I was the one creating opportunities and assisting others score goals. Looking back, that instinct naturally carried into wealth management. Our role is not to stand in the spotlight, but to help guide clients toward the outcomes that matter most to them: providing for family, preserving wealth responsibly, supporting causes they care about, and creating lasting legacies.
Kyle Sabdo, CFP®
A defining moment in the firm’s evolution came on August 4, 2023, when Kyle Sabdo, CFP®, joined as Partner and Co-CEO alongside Dawn Correia as Registered Client Associate. With their addition came not only growth, but a strengthening of the culture and values that define Stillwater today.
I was fortunate to meet Kyle in 2018 while we both worked at Merril Lynch, and from our earliest conversations, there was alignment in how we viewed this profession: clients come first, trust is earned over time, and long-term relationships matter far more than short-term outcomes. That shared philosophy continues to shape the way we serve our clients and build our team.
As our firm continues to grow, our commitment remains unchanged. We are building Stillwater for the long term, with patience, discipline, and an unwavering focus on serving our clients with integrity and care. Markets will evolve, technology will advance, and the world of wealth management will continue to change, but to us the importance of trust, transparency, and meaningful relationships will not.
Five years in, we remain energized by the responsibility entrusted to us every day. It is a privilege we never take lightly.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
Best regards,
Diego M Reyes
